What happens if we're acquired? Our charter, explained
Flintr's charter puts model neutrality, list-price usage, privacy and easy exports into our bylaws. Here's why we wrote it, how it's enforced and what it doesn't promise.

Why we wrote it
Developers build habits, workflows and whole team processes around their editor. When the company behind that editor changes hands, the things you chose it for can change overnight: which models you can use, how you're billed, what happens to your code.
We can't promise Flintr will never be sold. Nobody honestly can. What we can do is make sure the things you rely on don't depend on who owns us.
The four commitments
- Model-neutral, forever. No exclusive deals and no house model ranked above the rest.
- Usage at list price. Usage beyond your plan is billed at the provider's list price. No credits or multipliers.
- Your code stays yours. Privacy mode on by default, zero data retention with every provider, never used for training.
- Leave whenever you like. Export settings, rules, chats and history in one click.
How it's enforced
The charter is part of the company's bylaws rather than a page on our website. Changing it requires a formal vote of the board and shareholders and at least 60 days of public notice.
If ownership ever changes, the commitments transfer to the new owner as a condition of the deal. If a buyer won't accept that, every annual subscriber is refunded for the months they haven't used. Monthly subscribers can cancel at any time anyway.
What it doesn't promise
- Plan prices that never change. They can, with 60 days' notice, and never in a period you've already paid for.
- Every model, forever. Providers retire models. We promise not to remove one for commercial reasons of our own.
- That we'll never be acquired. Only that, if we are, these commitments come with us or you get your money back.
Read the full charter
The full charter lists each commitment and what it means in practice. If you're evaluating Flintr for a company, the same commitments can be written into an enterprise agreement.
Frequently asked questions
Is Flintr for sale?
No. Flintr is independent and funded by its backers, and by subscriptions after launch. The charter exists so that the answer matters less.
What happens to my annual plan if the company is sold?
If the new owner keeps the charter, nothing changes. If they don't, you're refunded for every unused month.
Can the charter be weakened quietly?
No. Any change requires a formal board and shareholder vote and at least 60 days of public notice.
